On June 20, 2012, Lawrence H. Kushi, ScD, will present on the benefits of a Mediterranean diet and lifestyle on Wednesday, for a Mediterranean evening of discussion, music, and refreshments.
Dr. Kushi is the associate director for Etiology and Prevention Research at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research. Dr. Kushi graduated from Amherst College and the Harvard School of Public Health.

Lawrence Kushi, Associate Director of Etiology and Prevention Research, Kaiser Permanente, talked about healthy diets. Nader Shabahangi, AgeSong CEO, discussed his experience having grown up on a Mediterranean diet. Sherri Baptiste, founder of the Baptiste Power of Yoga and author of Yoga with Weights for Dummies, conducted a session on breath-based yoga for individuals with evolving abilities. Janna O’Sullivan, Regional Director of Dietary Services, and Aviad Leizer, Dining Services Director, prepared an array of Mediterranean dishes. The evening was a Mediterranean delight that appealed to body, mind, and spirit.

Ilene Serlin, dance therapist, will be visiting AgeSong San Francisco on Monday, June 11, at 2:30 pm. She will bring with her the Program Director for the China Institute of Psychology in Beijing, where Ilene recently conducted a workshop. AgeSong San Francisco welcomes visitors from around the world to share creative approaches to aging.

This Tuesday, May 5, residents of AgeSong at Bayside Park will be making Furoshiki bags to carry water bottles for the ECO-Trek launch. Elders at Bayside Park are taking a lead in cleaning up the environment and staying healthy. They shall walk around the neighborhood, picking up debris on the sidewalk and visiting local merchants who have prepared samples of goodies for the ECO-Trek launch.
